Seeing a dental hygienist

A dental hygienist is a very important member of the dental team – they are here to help you keep your teeth and gums healthy! Most of our patients like to to see our hygienist every 6 months.

A hygienist appointment shouldn’t hurt. We hear many of our new patients express concerns about seeing a hygienist, but the experience really shouldn’t be a painful one. We have all the latest equipment, and everything can be adjusted to suit you and your individual needs.

Hygienists remove plaque and tartar from the teeth which not only helps to prevent gum disease but also reduces the risk of cavities forming. If you already have gum disease, regular visits to the hygienist can slow its progression and help you keep your teeth for longer.

As well as removing the plaque and tartar, the hygienist can show you ways to look after your teeth from home which is really important. Showing you how to give your teeth and gums the best daily care will help you to keep them clean, healthy and looking their best.

If you haven’t been to the dentist in a long time and need to see the hygienist, then the first step is a consultation with the dentist. This appointment will rule out any tooth and mouth problems and then you can make an appointment with the hygienist. You won’t need to see the dentist again for 6 months, but you can see the hygienist as often as you need to.

If you need to book an appointment, please call us on 01844 343381 or visit our dental practice in Princes Risborough. We see patients from Princes Risborough, Aylesbury, High Wycombe, Thame and the surrounding areas.
