A dental implant<\/a> is a strong titanium post or \u2018screw\u2019 which is positioned in the jawbone and left to fuse into place. The implant procedure is relatively simple, and the site heals very fast \u2013 much easier for you than having a tooth out! The fusing process, called osseointegration, takes a few months but once complete, they provide a stable support for a restoration to attach to.<\/p>\n

The number of implants placed depends on how many missing teeth you have. We can place one implant for small spaces or we can place many \u2013 some people have enough to replace all their missing teeth.<\/p>\n

After the few months of healing has taken place, it is time to \u2018restore\u2019 the implants. Restoring means we will prepare and fit the final attachment which will either be a crown, bridge or denture \u2013 depending on how many teeth we are replacing.<\/p>\n
